Me and The Trees

Prayer Poem· The Whole Earth is Full of His Glory· Weekly Word Devotionals

11 Mar

As soon as we turned down a lovely lane, I saw this interesting bark and *had* to stop and take a picture:082The whole earth is full of His glory! Then I saw this weathered and much older looking bark on this tree, and I *had* to stop to take another picture:084I had never, ever seen a tree like this one, so I *had* to take a picture:085Well, I actually took two, because, like I said, I’ve never, ever seen a tree like this before. I’ve felt like this before though, like almost all the bark is gone.086-1When I saw this tree with the deep bend to the left, I could relate to feeling this way to. Going and growing straight and then the sudden change in direction. What amazed me about this tree is the amount of growth in the direction it was bent. It did not stop growing when it’s course was changed. Oh, I needed to see this tree.088I loved this post, it represented use and purpose to me. And before the use and purpose, dying had to take place. From death, comes life. A post usually is placed in a hole dug specifically for it, secured by the cement, and attached to others by the bonds of wire. I could just see the symbolism in the church, the body of Christ. Founded on The Rock, joined together in a bond of unity by His Spirit and lined up to serve. One post can make a difference; but think of the impact that could be made from joining for the sake of His Name.089These stumps bothered me. I thought of the Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in the book of Daniel. And Isaiah 10:33 says: “Behold, the Lord, the GOD of hosts, will lop off the boughs with a terrible crash; those also who are tall in stature will be cut down and those who are lofty will be abased.”090-1This tree bark had visible growths on the bark, almost in a line. Made me think of how the enemy is up to the same old thing over and over in our lives. Like he says, I’ll hit her here. Oh, I’ll do it again. And again. But still standing because of 1 John 4:4: “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”091This stately old tree was still hanging on to some old leaves when it’s almost the season for new growth to form. Oh, this one spoke to me. What old *things* do I need to leave behind in order to experience the new works of God?093Visible signs of pruning were evident on this tree. John 15:2 “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.”John 15:6
094
The texture of this tree most intrigued me. By far, it was the most interesting to me. I’ve tried to figure out what it looks like. Well, why I was enlarging it trying to decide, I noticed the bark was covered in moss. Much like the trappings of the world, it looks attractive to me; but up close, it’s beauty and purpose are covered by the enemies lies.092Although this is one of my favorite pictures from the drive up the lane, I know the Lord is speaking Truth to my heart. As I look at the two directions the tree is going, I know that the Lord tells us that we cannot have life two ways, with two masters.096As we neared the end of the lane, I saw this secured gate. The lock and chain reminded me of the the hope of heaven’s gates talked about in Revelation 21:25 “In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;” GLORY – that is good news!095All the pictures are listed in the order I saw them and took them. As we drove back up the lane, I asked Audra to stop so I could take a picture of these branches that had been cut off and in a pile. It looked to me like they were ready for someone to gather up. The scene spoke the seriousness of John 15:6 to my heart: “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.”098
Lord, Magnificent Creator, You daily just totally amaze me
Teaching a visual learner spiritual lessons from looking at trees
Thank You Lord for Your amazing and splendid creation
The variety of trees makes me think of every tribe, tongue and nation
What a varied and delightful group as Your church, we are
Some old, stripped of bark, and some bearing moss and visible scars
May I live to enjoy and fully experience and see
Your specific, intended purpose fulfilled in me
When you move me from the direction You have me heading
On Your new course, let me no thing be dreading
I don’t want to hold on to any thing in the past
Keep me pressing on to the eternal, to what really lasts
Prune from me the dead and dying branches
And fill me with the Spirit who enhances
Let me LORD, for Your kingdom bear much fruit
Keep me grounded in the Word, there let me grow and root
Don’t let my heart ever be sorely divided
Let my wrongs by Your Spirit, be chided
As part of the Body of Christ, secure me at my post
I want to bring You glory and in You alone boast
Don’t let my life be cut down by the Enemy’s rapid fire
Don’t let my life be kindling, but realize the Enemy is a Liar
I long to hear You say to Your faithful servant, “Well Done”
In heaven safe and secure, forever illumined by The Son.
Amen.

I want to come visit you! And walk down your lane and chat and drink tea and get to know your teens and see how you homeschool and hear about your favorite memories and … well, you get the picture!

What a great lesson! This line really stood out to me:

“When you move me from the direction You have me heading
On Your new course, let me no thing be dreading”

That I need to pray about. There is so much going on here and I don’t want to dread God’s new direction, whatever that might be.

Thank you for praying for my family! We need prayer. I look forward to visiting you in person!
    Love,
    Patty

I love seeing the trees. B has a thing with trees. So does Jesus. He used one to reconcile the world. I did a talk once about the symbolism of trees in the Bible. I love their patterns on the bark. The first one reminded me of a turtle’s shell. Lora, I’m with Joanne. Let’s all go on a walk together. Maybe the Lord would reveal Himself to us like he did with those on the Walk to Emmaus. B

I need to add this. Joyce Kilmers poem called Trees. The last line says,”Poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree.”

Oh Joanne, the welcome mat is out for you dear one. And the lamp light is on. I was thinking about you yesterday as I was bicycling up the road. I’m thankful to the Lord the He allowed us to meet. And I’m so glad you still come by even though I’ve asked you a hundred questions. And I believe I have a hundred more to ask!

My dear Siesta Patty, those lines relay some of my fears and I have to keep saying one of Mama Beth’s prayers “Obedience to You always means your very best for me.” Blow us away Lord! Blow us away! It just tickles me to know that we plan to meet – again! Our God is soo good!

As I type dear B, I can see “The Walk to Emmaus” you sent me and am even now thinking about how the path He calls me to walk is not always the one I’d been on or had tucked in my mind as plan A. If you came for a walk B, I’d want to show you my turtles. And we would not need to wear our shoes either! *big hug to you* May our LORD reveal Himself to us as we walk along this pilgrim pathway. May He allow our paths to cross in person!

This is great. I love the comment about the tree growing in two directions. Goes so perfectly with the “No Other Gods” study we just finished. “We cannot have life two ways with two masters”.

    Blessings,

Interesting photos! I wonder why that one had almost no bark, maybe an animal came and ate it?!

I was so excited to see a new face. (occupational. We are a little isolated from much Christian fellowship.)

I really like these life comparisons to trees. Very intersting and I want to come back and soak it all up.

Thank you again for stopping by for a visit!

I took joy in reading your thoughts and seeing your photos of the trees, my sister who sees and hears JEHOVAH GOD in everything.

Cindy, the teens and I loved doing the “No Other Gods” study.

Victoria, the trees are down one of the loveliest lanes I’ve seen.

Holly, I was curious about the tree with no bark too.

Dani Joy, the welcome mat is out for you to stop back by and the lamp light is on.

My dear sister Nancy, we serve an amazing God! I just keep thinking, “The whole earth is full of His glory!”

I have never seen anything like what I saw when I I have never seen anything like what I saw when I walked in Walmart this last week.

Right there where they normally have fresh berries and Grainger county tomatoes and such, was a Valentine’s Day floral display the size of an above ground swimming pool.

And I wanted to dive in the deep end.

There were blooms as far as my eye could see and there was no way possible to get every one in the picture, though I tried.

I wish you lived in my town and we’d go enjoy them together.

It’s going to be a beautiful Valentine’s Day!

I’m carrying forward the childhood joy of openin I’m carrying forward the childhood joy of opening my Raggedy Ann lunch box to find mama had cut my sandwich out with heart shaped cookie cutters.

♥️

It’s the little things.

♥️

I got my mama’s heart shaped cookie cutters out & am serving love & beauty with heart shaped, & heart healthy, Trim Healthy Mama Blender Freezer Waffles. Shout out to the organic Aldi raspberries that appear to be heart shaped as well!

The waffles are Salesman approved. ♥️

I make an entire batch of the waffles & keep them in a refrigerator box so he can grab them just like a L’eggo My Eggo & enjoy the convenience of healthy, & now heart-shaped, waffles.

You can see the Salesman’s legs in the background of one of the pictures of me trying to capture the perfect picture of the heart shaped waffles. I stepped out on the back porch, which is right outside his office, and he came out to see what I was doing. And let me tell you, he had a good laugh seeing me trying to get the picture perfect shot of my plate of love! After he ribbed me a bit, I told him that I really enjoyed taking pictures, & he then shared a nugget, or two, about the photography industry.

This is us. ♥️

This is me carrying on a tradition my mama started of making sweet memories for holidays & special occasions. It did not cost any money to use my childhood cookie cutters, it was just a sweet, and delicious, investment of time.

The most beautiful memories are tied with heart strings & not purse strings. ♥️
