Sharing a post today from 2008…the first year I started blogging…
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” John 14:12
The word greater has been championing my thoughts lately. Based on His Words, am I personally experiencing greater things? Or am I limiting Him in some way? “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Matthew 11:15 What “greater works” is God wanting to do in and through my life that I am resisting? Dear One, has He laid a greater work down for you? Something new? A dream? A new way? An opportunity? A sacrifice? A person? A greater work unlike anything you’ve ever thought or even imagined? (1 Cor. 2:9) Or is there something old (a problem, situation, habit or strife) that needs to be let go of in order for Him to do “greater works” in our lives?
Ask Him, through prayer, to reveal what He wants you to do with the old and new:
Lord, I pray and plead that I may not miss the “greater things”
Fan Your flame within me and allow my heart to sing
Obviously Lord, there is some “old stuff” in my life
Problems, situations, habits and strife
Lord, please make me willing
To whatever hurts You are healing
Keep me close to You and Your Word
Quiet me to listen and allow Your Spirit to be heard
May I truly be a reflection of You
In word, in thought, and in action too
I do not want to miss Your “greater work”
Help me Lord, Your assignments not to shirk. Amen
After asking the Lord to work, He brings the solution and then we are faced with a choice: Will I apply Truth and allow Truth to change me? Or will I tuck away the good Words (being a hearer – James 1:23-25) and miss the greater things (being a doer)? God wants us to apply Truth to our daily life. Soul searching questions:
Am I experiencing greater things?
Am I reading and believing the words of God?
Am I listening to and responding to the Spirit?
Am I a reflection of Jesus?
He has “greater works” in store for you! Believe Him!
