When you finally admit you don’t have a green thumb

A Beautiful Life· Audra Elizabeth· Home Sweet Home· Product Review· The Salesman

25 Jul

Last year as the weather warmed up and we were in the check out line in the Lawn and Garden department, The Salesman pulled out money to pay and looked me square in the eyes, and without cracking a smile, said: “Why don’t I just light this on fire?” Innocently, I asked him why he would light his hard-earned money on fire, and he made some remark about how every season, every year, I buy more flowers and plants and blah, blah, blah…something about just light his money on fire…something about me not having a green thumb…

I did not take his comment so well and kindly asked him pay for my Kimberly Queen ferns, a Macho fern, and the most unique fern I’d ever seen, the foxtail asparagus variety.  I also had various hanging flowers for the back porch and one replacement tree for an urn on the front porch.  That got me to thinking, that replacement tree for the front porch…  This was not the first time that I have bought a replacement tree for one of the two planters that flank the front entry… Maybe The Salesman was right…  I have had cypress, juniper, boxwoods, and topiaries, in those urns out front, just to name a few.  I really enjoy having trees and greenery, flowers and ferns.  But there came a point in the last year that I realized, there was truth in what The Salesman spoke.  I’ve spent much over the years replacing trees and greenery.

Maybe there was a better way?

You all, there is!

I want to share a treasure I have discovered with you, that is beautiful option and maybe, just maybe, will help your husband to not feel like he is lighting his money on fire…

Check out Museum Trees website, and prepare to be amazed.  Serious beauty for outdoor plant and tree choices.

I have two cypress trees in my office now, thanks to Museum Trees! And I must say the benefits are:

Beauty. They look like real trees.  Look how full and fresh they look!  They look as good today as the day they arrived on my back porch.

No watering! No worrying about needing to have someone water them when we are traveling. No worry for me to over water, or under water!

No mess from dead leaves or fronds falling off, or dirt or debris clean up from pets or children knocking them over!

No pollen and no mold!  Our oldest daughter, Audra Elizabeth, has allergies and there are some years when even a fresh Christmas tree in the house bothers her allergies.

And, I have a unique offer for any of my readers who wish to buy a product from Silk Plants Direct website, you can use this code “ BLOGGER10 “ and enjoy 10% off on their products, except for custom.

All the Georgia heat here, only knockout roses are thriving, with our storms help. Not everyone has to be a gardener.

I have been struggling with my vegetable garden for the last 3 years and finally i decided that it wasn't necessarily me, but the soil that needed attention. Once that was straightened out, then things will thrive. Hummmm. pretty good analogy to what sometimes needs for us to thrive spiritually too! thanks for your post!

The first time I saw knockout roses here in town, I had to call the church that had them in their landscaping to find out their variety. So very pretty!

I remember Priscilla Shirer sharing a story about the soil needing to be replaced at one of her speaking events. Good analogy, indeed!
