I am so excited to have my friend Kara’s newly released book in hand! I have admired Kara for years; but really got to see her mothering heart when we traveled to Uganda for a nearly month long trip. When you spend that long with someone in not so pleasant conditions, you really get to know them. Kara is the real deal. I caught beautiful glimpses of her mothering heart as I saw her do life with and love on my own daughter while on that adventure round the globe.

Bring that forward to this last week when I had a to-do list that seemed like it was a mile long because I was playing a small part in two large events. One of the items on my to-do list was to pick wildflowers to make into arrangements for event tables. Kara not only offered her field of wildflowers for the arrangements, but the assistance of her two young daughters to help me pick flowers. Her act of kindness truly turned a to-do list item for me into fun adventure with her eager and enthusiastic daughters! They joyfully filled water buckets, made sure I had all the supplies necessary for picking flowers, knew the best spot to pick from, made the ride down their long driveway beautiful with the windows down and the wind blowing our hair, and reminded me of heartfelt memories of days gone by with my own precious daughters. Kara shared from the abundance of her motherhood to me in a season when I felt like my mamahood was in famine with my oldest daughter now living in Nashville and my youngest daughter’s recent move to China. I’m looking forward to gleaning more of what Kara has to share in her book “Abundant Motherhood”. She encourages my heart with her motherhood in real life and I’m sure this book will be much like my wildflower basket: overflowing with beauty.
