For the Love of Lamp Lights – An Amazing Thrifted Crystal Lamp

A Beautiful Life· For the Love of Lamp Lights· Friends· Fun

27 Sep
Happy weekend, friends!  I hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead of you!  It is going to be a relatively quiet one around here.  One thing that I know I need to do this weekend is decide on a lamp shade!  And there is a little story to go along with that.  And maybe, just maybe, you can add your lamp shade advice at the end!  Here’s the scoop:
I was a bit early meeting a couple of my mermaid friends for dinner and swimming and decided to run in a thrift store for a few minutes. When I came out, I had this beautiful cut crystal lamp.  It is absolutely gorgeous, and it was at a thrift store price!  It is very heavy and has an Asian style brass base. The cord and switch work well. However, it did not have a lamp shade.

So, I sent pictures to my friend the Lamp Queen (a.k.a. Lisa) and a few days later, we (my crystal lamp and I) made a trip to visit the Lamp Queen to try out different shades at her home.

After trying shades at the Lamp Queen’s, I tried a few from my stash.  I like the shape of this one; but not particularly the color.  This one was purchased at HomeGoods.

Still not satisfied, the Lamp Queen and I made a trip to Calloway’s and we (the Lamp Queen and the sales clerk) found this lovely yellow silk shade.  I would not have even thought to consider yellow.  Yellow was my mother’s favorite color and makes me think happy thoughts of her.  I like the size of the shade, too.

Being the good friend that she is, the Lamp Queen had suggested I bring a piece of wallpaper from the room where this lamp would go, and she even offered to hold it up so I could get a good visual of what it would look like with the wallpaper.

Then we spied an oriental looking shade.  Granted, it is too big for the lamp and I would not go with the variegated color shown; but there is something about this shade that is interesting to me, especially with the base of the lamp.  It’s hard to visualize the shade in a smaller size and all one color… What do you think?  Do you think it would work? I’m thinking of going with the lightest of the three variegated colors.

Then, as if we didn’t have some really good options, our helpful sales lady pulled out some swatches for a custom shade…

The Lamp Queen suggested an orange.  Look at that color and texture.  I love the texture of this fabric and think the orange would work!

Look at the green she found!  Oh my, I would not have even thought of choosing green.

Decisions, decisions.

I brought the yellow silk shade home to try; but will need to make a decision soon, so here I am asking my internet friends, what would you pick based on the pictures?

I am looking up this weekend and seeing beauty all around me.  I hope that you will too, my friends.
