I’ve been wondering where the vibrant red leaves of this season were. Had I missed them? Where they still to come? Was it too dry? Had insects eaten all the pretty ones? I’ve seen many brown, yellow, and green leaves, but not many red. The fall foliage has just been a bit lackluster this year. Though I was on the way to an appointment today, I got out of my vehicle and snapped this picture of a leaf on our mailbox.
Special delivery.
Seriously, I think this is beautiful. A lovely red leaf on the mailbox, just for me!
Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons. Fall contained both of my parents’ birthdays and we spent most Thanksgivings with my mother’s family. I have good memories of our times together. I am so very grateful for the good times.
Here are a few of my fall favorites:
The colors of the changing leaves
The cooler temperatures
Pumpkins – we grew pumpkins in our garden when growing up
Warm woolen socks
Sweaters, turtlenecks, corduroys – all the fall clothes
Hot tea in a favorite mug from New York
The crisp air
Cozy blankets with pom-poms
Delicious Soups – especially squash or corn chowder with cornbread
Sitting by the fireplace with family and friends
Acorns and walnuts falling from the trees
Vegetables from a winter garden
Apple crisp or caramel apples – or both
The way the Ginkgo trees drop all its leaves in one day leaving a golden carpet on our front yard
What do you enjoy about this wonderful season? I’d love to hear some of your favorites.
Happy Fall!
