After speaking in chapel at Hidden Treasures Academy this week, Lee Anne led us in two songs, and the students worshipping was the best part of my day. Several students got out of their seats and made their way to the front and worshipped like our African friends, with their whole body. There was singing and dancing. The expressions of praise were beautiful. The presence of God was so palpable in the stained-glass chapel that I cried the whole time we sang.
God is real.
God is alive.
God inhabits the praise of His people.
“But thou art holy, and dost inhabit the praises of Israel.” Psalms 22:3 GNV
Church occurred on a weekday morning in a stained-glass chapel with a group of people that are considered “hidden treasures.” There was no fanfare, no pretense, just pure and simple, praise.
Being at Hidden Treasures Academy is one of my favorite places to be. The people there are my favorites. I feel so at home at Hidden Treasures, a school for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The students and staff live and love well. And I sure do love them. And I loved worshipping with them and watching them worship The Lord without constraint.
