“Life is like a box of chocolates.” Forrest Gump
I’m thinking today of the dear ones that I’ve been blessed to share this sweet life with.
Much can happen in just a year…
Cue the tears
I mourn afresh my loss, the empty space in my life’s box of chocolates
And hold the memories, oh so dear.
Thinking of her transparent skin stretched over her long, blue veined fingers with knobbed knuckles reaching for a sweet, *after* she offered me one.
There were always sweets at her home; but more importantly to me, she was always sweet.
Always.
This woman was, and is, one of my finest valentines. She lived well and loved well. I knew she loved me and The Salesman and the girls.
To know you are loved is such a gift.
I’m thinking of you today if someone you love is gone from your life. I look at this picture this year, from last year, and I am missing her like the vacant places in the box of chocolates. And I know I’m not alone this Valentines month in missing loved ones. You are not alone in missing your loved ones: a mom, dad, sister, brother, daughter, son, husband, wife, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, friend, coworker. I pray the memories you have of your loved ones bless your heart and mind today. I pray The Lord Himself comforts you and speaks to the empty places in your heart today.
You are loved,
By a Savior, sent from above.
Oh, you are loved.
Normally I say *eat your veggies*; but today, in honor of a lady that I cannot help but miss as I look at the preformed empty places in a box of chocolates, my heart says:
Cherish the sweet memories
Feast on the sweet you could offer to someone else today.
Know you are loved.
You can, and may be, the love someone else needs today.
You are loved.
You are love.
Offer what you have in your box today, in love:
A smile.
A nod.
A kind word.
A phone call.
A text.
Your time.
It’s ok if there are vacant places in your box, you can be a blessing to someone today. I’m convinced, we all have empty places. I want to be about offering something sweet, something kind, something that may have been formed in a hollow or empty place in my life, to others.
You are loved.
Our empty spaces could be the chocolate in someone else’s box.
