I can hardly wait to share with you what I’ve found right at my back door. Just a few weeks ago, in fact it was about the time I started staying home, I noticed a small sprinkling of twigs scattered on the porch by a topiary at our back door. I promptly swept them off the porch that first time; but, when there was another array of twigs and greenery in the same place the next day, I started to investigate and found a nest was being built right at eye level in one of the topiaries! I was so excited! Every day that I have been home, it has been fun to see the progression of the nest, and then the thrill when little, spotted eggs started appearing!
On Day 5 after the nest was completed, the first egg appeared:
Then on Day 6, the second egg was laid:
Day 7 brought the third little egg to the feathery nest:
And the clutch of eggs was complete on Day 8:
We are now on Day 16 of the *Nest Adventure* and I am looking forward to seeing baby birds in the nest soon! Keeping up with the progress of the nest has added joy and celebration to this season.
I realize that not everything in life is rainbows, and unicorns and daises. I have a daughter that lives in China. My husband is in an at-risk category because of his health. Even at this time, I am convinced there is beauty all around us just waiting to be found. I am continuing my treasure hunt for the “true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable,” and, I am finding it every where I look. This nest has been a visual that keeps me humming the song “His Eye is on The Sparrow” and makes me ever so grateful that He watches us.
How about you? Do you have something beautiful that you’ve seen, or encountered, or experienced this last week? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! Let’s choose to find things to celebrate and encourage one another.
