If I had a dollar for every time I’ve driven by this beautiful landmark in our town….
Seriously, I can not tell you all how many times I’ve driven by this vintage seraphim bench and thought:
That is beautiful, I should stop and take the time to enjoy it…
Well, we have lived in town for over five years and this beauty is on the pathway that I travel often and this week I finally stopped. And, I not only stopped, I got out and walked over to the bench and sat on it for a while and marveled at the beauty of the vintage winged seraphim.
I had felt drawn here for so long and I was finally here. I am so glad that I slowed down enough to stop and enjoy the beauty. Up close was amazing. I took pictures from every angle and enjoyed the carved flowers and the graceful lines of the wings. I could not help but think: “Holy, Holy, Holy.” It was just me and the age old seraphim and the piece of wood that was worn and aged by the elements and cars going up and down the street and people walking and talking. I’m trying my best to remember the value of slowing down and enjoying the beauty that is all around me.
The pause I took this week in this spot was holy. It was only as I started typing the words of this post did I realize I’d stepped upon ground with seraphim and cherubim…right here in my town and on my everyday pathway. In all my busy, I’d almost missed the beauty of this holy combination.
Recently a wall of trees surrounding one side of this yard was cut away and there has been more light shed on this spot near our downtown area. I spent some time enjoying the antique cement cherub statue set in a well worn bird bath not far from the seraphim. The trio of cherubs was also so beautiful to me.
As they walked together
Holding hands
Arm around the other
The set in stone statue from ages ago, speaks loudly and sets such a good example for times such as this.
