It’s the 15th, friends! And that means that it is time to check in for our Scripture Memory Team! How did you do in memorizing your verse this last time? I really liked using the Scripture memory tattoo from Dwell Differently to memorize Matthew 17:30b. And a little funny aside, The Salesman noticed mine about a week into wearing it on my arm. He was so funny about it!
Years ago when we did a Scripture Memory Team here on the blog, I would type out my verse that I’d just memorized for accountability. And, I’ve decided that I’m going to start doing that again! So, here I go, typing my last verse from memory right here *live* on the blog:
“Truly, I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to that mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:30b
Alright, let’s see how I did! I did pretty well – I said “that” mountain instead of “this” mountain. That for a this, that is pretty good! I will get a new memory verse tattoo in the mail next month from Dwell Differently; but, until I do, I have selected a verse having to do with a new topic that I sense the Lord leading me to memorize. The topic is:
Rest.
I felt like the Lord said to me (not in an audible voice; but in my spirit) to “get into a rhythm of rest.” Well, for those that know me well, know that I love to go and do. And that is probably why the Lord spoke what He did to me! He has a way of speaking exactly what we need, doesn’t He? The first *thing* I did was look up the definitions of the main words:
Rythmn – A strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound (from the Oxford English dictionary)
Rest – Cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength (also from the Oxford English dictionary)
It is going to be work for me to rest.
Then I went to the Word and searched the concordance for verses on rest and settled on Psalm 116:7 to memorize this time. In days and times like we are experiencing, I think this verse about returning my soul to rest is so appropriate. Here is my entry:
