As I stepped into the sunshine of Friday and was walking to my car after an appointment, I saw two women visiting in the parking lot. My car was just beyond them and they were in my line of view, though I couldn’t hear what they were saying, in my heart, I’d started praying for the woman to my right because her legs were swollen and looked so painful.
And right there in the moment of praying in my head,
I nearly ended up dead.
I was almost ran over by a larger than life vehicle whose driver did not see me.
I believe she was heading for an open parking spot near my car and zipped up one aisle and was making the turn to my row when she nearly mowed me over.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her whip her vehicle towards me and keep going…
In the moment of believing I was going to be run over, the reality hit me:
She doesn’t see me and my feet took moving so quickly you’d have thought I was in fast-forward mode.
I was.
I felt the brush of a large jeep on my skirt.
Tears come to my eyes as I recount the horror.
She didn’t see me.
I felt a large vehicle brush my back side.
It was that close.
In a moment, I was up close and personal with the ladies I’d seen from a distance. We were shaking our heads in disbelief when the driver who must’ve been brought back to reality by my scream, rolled her window down and said:
“I’m so sorry…I didn’t see you.”
Yesterday I read Psalms 25:15 and the reality that the Lord did this for me is ever fresh and new:
“…For He rescues my feet out of the net.”
THE LORD SAW ME.
I wept yesterday as I re-read HIS word.
And when I throw back the scarlet ribbon that marks my chapter in the Psalms for today, I read verses 11&12, and this is the LORA version – go read the whole chapter in a regular approved version, it is so good! But here is my *sheep nearly taken out by a jeep* version:
But as for me, I am walking today in my integrity because I was almost rolled over yesterday;
YOU redeemed me – YOU rescued me – YOU LORD were sooo gracious to me.
My two feet are standing on a level place and nothing is broken or harmed in any way thanks to YOU alone.
YOU saw me, I am YOUR sheep
You saved me from the jeep
YOU are more than a good luck charm
YOU saved me from ever present, danger and harm
So yes, LORD, this songbird will tweet
in the words that I write and speak –
I shall bless YOU, the LORD.
Forever. And amen.
YOU have saved me yet again.
I will praise YOU as long as YOU give me life and breath.
Thank YOU Father for saving me from an untimely death.

My goodness! I know the Lord was protecting you! I don’t always remember to think about scriptures referring to myself as being one of His “flock”. His being a good Shepherd means that He protects me from danger. He guides me toward things, people & places that will benefit me. He nurtures me with His love & mercy. Most of all, He shows me how valuable I am to Him, with the sacrifice of His life on the cross for my sins. A good shepherd values his flock from wild beasts by putting himself between them, knowing he could die.
I am sorry you had to experience this frightening ordeal, and I am so relieved that you were protected from harm. Thank you for sharing your Psalm story.

“He guides me toward thing, people & places that will benefit me.” I needed that today! Thank you kindly for sharing, my friend. You are such an encouragement to me. I thank the LORD for you!
