Last night when I went through the 10,000 plus pictures on my phone, I couldn’t get this one off my mind from my dear neighbor’s house. Isn’t it beautiful? It is a corbel, which is a support designed to bear weight.
I kept thinking about how important our support systems are today.
The last five weeks, I learned the importance of a support system when we were sick. I am thankful for the support system that stepped up and in to help us.
I don’t want to focus on all that was done for us, I want to turn our focus again to the widow’s group that invites me to their gatherings. I took this picture of this architectural corbel at our last meeting. These precious ladies are a support for one another when the very one they married, they have buried. I see such beauty in these women as they *corbel* one another not just for a season of being sick; but for the seasons they now weather as widows.
You know, I feel so blessed to be a part of their gatherings. Most of them know one another and I am learning their names, and their beloved spouse’s names. We bring salads, and Nancy always has a dessert that is sweeter than straight molasses, and sit around the table and share the Everlasting Truth of the Word.
This last month, Sandy read Psalm 139 and we followed along on our papers she’d given each of us gathered round the beautifully appointed table.
The last part of verse 10 says:
“…And Your right hand will lay hold of me.”
Sisters, the LORD will *corbel* us! He will hold and support us in times of darkness, overwhelm, loss, and sadness.
Hallelujah!
I am thankful for the support system we have in Christ and in the body of believers.
I sure do love you,
Lora
