To opposites attracting & still being attracted.
To always holding the doors for me.
To letting me take my half out of the middle.
To your ability to simultaneously accomplish so much & hear every conversation I have.
To you offering my daddy a home with us before even asking me.
To holding our girls to your chest when you’d come home from work & the calm that came, to rocking & singing to them when they were so little, to reading us all stories through their growing up years, for teaching them history…
To your intellect paired with good common horse sense & your spot on baloney detector.
To your generous spirit.
To young children & pets that make a b-line for you.
To you always finding a white couch at art museums.
To never forgetting the amazing ways we experienced God in the pearl of Africa.
To caring about people more than things.
To the words you read to me from a book dedication when my book was turned down the second time.
To you finally being ready to get rid of that green carpet.
To you almost always saying yes to me & to the 3 times I can remember you saying no.
To the last year that has been the best year yet.
To the next year that will be even better than this one.
To getting past the roughest & toughest years to enjoy these sweet & tender ones.
If we’d given up, we’d never made it to the good.
