Happy August and Happy Scripture Memory Team day!!!
I love the “who you are” and “how you should act” of this verse:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Colossians 3:12
It’s so good to be reminded that we belong to God: chosen, holy and dearly loved.
I enjoy fashion and want to focus today on the “clothe yourself” in the second half of the verse.
What we choose to dress ourselves in is very intentional. What we have on in the spiritual realm is deliberate, too.
This verse says to clothe yourself with “compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Some of us are going around in the physical world, without our spiritual clothing. You could say “nekked” in the spiritual sense.
Sadly we know what that person looks like – the one without spiritual clothing: they can be mean, proud, rough, or have a short fuse.
We can be “dressed to the nines” as the saying goes; but if we don’t clothe ourselves with the attributes of Christ, we are not living with the same love Christ has shown us.
This verse is such a good reminder to us of who we are and how we are to act.
Our faith should bear fruit of the Spirit.
Join this month in memorizing the word of God on our Scripture Memory Team.
