Hoping her parents will still let her come back even though we totally disregarded the 15 minute visit timer. And I missed her mother’s text because I had my ringer off cause I was trying to take pictures of her unaware cause she’s on to my picture taking thing. It had been what seemed like a month of Sundays since we’d had our 15 minutes; but we made up for lost time till her daddy came a knocking at the back door.
Let me back up to her bouncing in with heirloom tomatoes in each hand to us starting our 15 minutes on the Chesterfield.
I heard all about her summer adventures, the new school year & I learned a new word. She encouraged me look it up on my phone when I questioned what it meant. I watched as she contorted to what resembled a pretzel on the couch while talking gymnastics & then showed me some back-crawling-arched-like-a-cat thing before she collapsed on the floor in laughter & I did get a sweet pic of her grinning on the rug.
I had to go turn the stove burner off & she followed & decided to try the spicy green beans; but goodness she needed some water.
Then she saw the Salesman’s beet powder & I found myself trying to describe what a beet tastes like…she decided to try it & worked to make sure all the powder dissolved in her glass, though I don’t think she’ll suggest planting any beets in her garden.
I enjoyed watching her eyes of wonder as she smelled all the oils by the kitchen diffuser & then shared which one she liked the best.
All that samplin’ & sippin’ was sweet; but we were up on our feet & she asked how long I thought it would take for her to find out how many bedrooms we had in the house & if I thought she could do it in 2 minutes. I had to set the timer and then come with her. The game took a fun turn when she found out we had an upstairs. I was going to let her go up to count the rooms by herself; but when she got halfway up and saw I was standing at the bottom, she said I *had to* come with her. She’s sweeter than a sugar lump. If her parents let her come back & visit again since we went way into overtime, I might surprise her & tell her we have a basement, too. The little miss shared 15+ minutes and a harvest of fruit with me; but the sweetest part was the time together in the garden of everyday life.
