Every time I hear the word devoted, the record player of my mind starts playing Olivia Newton-John’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” Sally was indeed *that* to Danny in the movie Grease. We know what devotion looks like. We may not be singing a ballad about our heartbreak on the porch; but, the Lord commands our devotion in this verse. We are to be devoted – not to things or people; but to prayer and being watchful and thankful.
It’s not always easy to do all three together; but His command is simple and straightforward.
It’s a chorus of three
He asks from you and me
Devote yourselves to prayer
God listens, He cares
Watch and give thanks
On His ways, we can bank
