Happy weekend, friends!
Do you ever just look up? I mean, to beyond what you see at eye level? Don’t get me wrong, I love to look people directly in their eyes when having conversations, and people watching is one of my favorite activities; but, I also just enjoy looking up. It seems that in society these days, we are prone to look down:
At our phones
At the job directly in front of us
At the paperwork on our desk
At what has fallen and needs to be swept up
At the shoes our bare feet slide into
At dishes in soapy bubbles in the sink
At the myriad of tasks to be done in a day
Beauty is all around us, just waiting to be discovered. And enjoyed.
I look up, and I see:
Beauty…
Exposed ceiling joists
Monochromatic wood tones
Black, white, and sunlight
Lines running north, south, east, west
Nail-heads
A wooden, five-board wall border
Sunlight flooding a room
A power source encapsulated in shiny metal
Criss-cross designs
A modern black, mixed metal lamp light suspended from between two beams
Look up, my friends, there is beauty all around.
