Trim Healthy Mama Golden Chana Soup Review

In the American kitchen· Meal on Monday· The Salesman· Trim Healthy Mama

20 Aug

Soup weather is almost here! I don’t know about you; but, I really enjoy fall weather and foods.  We have had many rainy days lately, and I guess that is what inspired me to decide to simmer a dutch oven of soup.  Since The Salesman’s diagnosis of diabetes, I’ve been paying closer attention to the glycemic index.  In looking through the THM Cookbook, there is a lot of good information shared in the preface of this recipe, including:

Chana Dal has a rating of 8 on the glycemic index.
Most other beans are in the 30-40’s range.

Here are the recipe details:

Cookbook:  Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook
Chapter:  Family Soups
Recipe:  Golden Chana Soup
Serving:  family serve – feeds 6-8
Fuel: E fuel

I did soak the Chana dal overnight.

This is the second time I’ve made this recipe.  I made it back when Pastor Robert was visiting from Africa.  The Africans do not eat as much meat as we do as Americans, and both Pastor Robert and Gary liked this soup.  I am also trying to incorporate more meatless meals into the meal plans each week.

Linda joined us for dinner last week, and she liked it, too.  I served it with a mixed green salad and a THM cornbread.  I also put a dollop of sour cream and cilantro on my soup!

I did not add the optional chicken breast to the soup this time.

If you are looking for a healthy carb meal, this is it!

Enjoy!
