One of my favorite places to speak is at chapel at Hidden Treasures Academy here in town. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to do so once a month. Being at HTA is a highlight for me. The people there are just wonderful. I feel so at home with them. I feel loved and accepted when I am there, and I deeply sense the presence of God when I am in chapel there. The students and staff and some of the kindest people in our town. Seriously. There is such a sense of belonging in this sweet group. They look into your eyes when you speak, they listen attentively, participate when questions are asked, and give such positive feedback. I have the pleasure of going to church with a couple of the students and they are just dear. They always greet me and make me feel like a celebrity, even though, they are the real deal.
My dear friend Tracy Lewis started this school for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 2013. I am so proud of her. She is out there changing the world and enriching the lives of others.
I would love for you to check out the Hidden Treasures website. Prepare to be impressed! The students are not only book learning; but, are also active in many areas in the community! In the “About Us” tab, Tracy shares her heart about the school. She is uncovering the “gifts, talents, and potential” of many.
Tracy is an everyday hero.
