Prayer Poem· The Loft Link-Up· Weekly Word Devotionals

As an adverb, The Free Dictionary defines still as:

Continuing now or in the future as in the past.

I’ve done a devotional on still as an adjective; but as I thought about the prompt for today’s post, the adverb meaning was the word I needed. It’s what GOD is speaking to me. I don’t share on the blog here to preach. I share what HE is teaching me personally.

There is so much turmoil in the world today.

There is unrest.

There is loss.

There is sadness.

There are problems.

There are struggles.

There are situations that are uncomfortable.

There are decisions that are difficult.

There are people that challenge me to love like Jesus that bear my same last name.

There are constantly changing agendas.

But hallelujah, GOD never changes. HE is still the same yesterday, today and forever. He is “continuing now or in the future as in the past.”

HE was.

HE is.

HE will be.

Hallelujah!

In an uncertain world, HE is certain.  I think of the words to One Thing Remains by Jesus Culture:

Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant through the trial and the change
One thing… Remains, yes
One thing Remains.

[Chorus x3:]
Your love never fails, it never gives up
It never runs out on me

Because,
On and on and on and on it goes
Before, it overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I never, ever, have to be afraid
One thing remains
So, one thing remains.

[Chorus x3:]
Your love never fails, it never gives up
It never runs out on me

[Bridge:]
In death, In life, I’m confident and
Covered by the power of Your great love
My debt is paid, there’s nothing that can
Separate my heart from Your great love…

My heart is full of thanksgiving that in uncertain times and uncertain situations, my GOD is still in control and on HIS throne! Hallelujah!

LORD,
I take rest in, and my thoughts embrace and remain
That YOU alone, stay the same.
In a sea of uncertainty,
YOU are a constant to me.
YOU are a tower, a refuge a strength –
YOU go the distance, every length.
My heart can sing hallelujah –
Nothing ever surprises or is new to YOU.
YOU are always there.
YOU truly care.
As the world, as my life
Spins – I am a daughter, mother, wife
YOU calm,
YOU are the balm.
YOU remain,
YOU are always the same.
Hallelujah.
yes, Hallelujah.
And amen.

I'm so thankful that our God NEVER changes, it would change everything if he did. He is the one and only constant in our lives. I love the song you shared such a great reminder! We can rest and be still knowing that Our Father loves us! Thanks for sharing. Bless your heart!

As I read your post, I thought of an anchor. Although above the anchor there is swaying and even tossing and turning, even extreme battering and turbulence, where that anchor is, there is stillness. He is our anchor. No matter what comes, He still holds. Thanks for sharing your heart here at The Loft!

The fact that Jesus never changes and continues to be steadfast and holy is such a comfort to me…especially in those times when I am not so steadfast and holy. As always you bring beauty to The Loft. Thank you so much for your presence here.

Thank you for the truth – the Spirit of truth. He never gives up on us. In the stillness you found Him and in the stillness you shared. I appreciate it. Thank you.

I read these lines: I don't share on the blog here to preach. I share what HE is teaching me personally.

I realize we have a kindred mission. I too blog what He's teaching me. My heart burns within me and I just have to share.

    Blessings,

    Chris
