The monthly sales meeting this week confirmed what we already knew in our hearts, the Salesman was the #1 Salesman in his company for 2008!!! Yeah! We are so proud of him and so thankful that his company has acknowledged his hard work. And here is a picture of our family and the Number 1 Salesman outside the Salesman’s Peep at James Whitcomb Riley’s home. The rose colored window above the door was called the Salesman’s Peep. The house servants working upstairs could look out and see what salesman was ringing the bell and decide whether or not they wanted to make the trip down the stairs to answer the door. The Salesman’s Peep sounds a little bit like our modern day caller ID. Seriously, we are so happy for him and are praising the Lord. God is really good and today our praise goes to Him. God’s given the Salesman a wonderful ability to close a sale and he really enjoys taking care of his customers. He’s good, really good at what he does. Seeking the Lord’s favor for the Salesman in his work is something I pray for him. One verse I pray for the Salesman:
Proverbs 22:29 NASB
“Do you see a man skilled in his work?
He will stand before kings;
He will not stand before obscure men.”
(on the card the verse is written on, I have a few versions written out of the word obscure)
ASV, Webster – mean men
NLT – ordinary people
NKJV – unknown men
Then I pray the verse back to the Lord, inserting the Salesman’s name. Today I’ll be using this verse to praise the Lord and insert the dear Salesman’s name. In the Salesman’s medicine cabinet, on a beautiful note card I have written #1 Salesman (And His Name) right behind his razor. This was a little tip I gleaned from reading See You at the Top by Zig Ziglar. In one chapter Zig talked about *seeing* where you are going. And being a visual learner, I too like to see positive encouragement. So every day he opens his side of the cabinet, the Salesman sees:
#1 Salesman
And His Name
I’m thinking we are going to host a dinner to celebrate…

Lora,
Congratulations to your Salesman and praise the LORD, our LORD for His favor following after and going before your dear Salesman. May this year find our LORD’s favor continously upon you and your beautiful family.
Much love.

Definitely congratulations to your “salesman”!! These days it is not easy trying to “sell” anything…but it always helps to have the Good Lord on your side!
I pray God’s continued blessings on you and your family!

Hats off to the salesman! Once upon a time, I was a sales ‘person’, so I can appreciate what it takes to be #1.
I think a special dinner sounds perfect. Do it again in 2009.
