Memory Monday

Memory Monday

Joanne has started Memory Monday as accountability to write God’s Word on our hearts and I’m gladly joining in. Scripture memory has been a topic my accountability partner and I have recently discussed. So I realize I need to add some action to my good intentions and memorize The Truth! So, here’s how it works, you pick a section or passage of Scripture or a verse to memorize and then on Monday, type it out from memory! Then pick another and begin again!

After reading Joanne’s post, I went to my Bible memory cards and saw the verse for Week 8 (which was where I’d left off on my memorization plan from my church), it confirmed I was to make memorizing His Word a priority. After doing 7 weeks with our church body, I had stopped to memorize some verses with my youngest teen, then stopped that to memorize verses with the Experiencing God class and then I never got back to the great Embracing The Word campaign our church started. So, here’s the verse, I read on the card:

I’m going to do it from memory now. Wait, let me turn the card over… And may I also add, I’m going to do the reference before and after, because I tend to forget where verses are found.

Psalm 119:11
Your Word have I treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

OK, I have to look and see how I did… whoops, I switched I have around. OK, one more time:

Psalm 119:11
Your Word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

You know, I really pray the Truth of this verse in my life that as I memorize The Word and treasure it in my heart, that I may not sin against God.

This week I am going to review this Truth and work on:
Isaiah 45:5
I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God: I will gird you, though you have not known Me.
Isaiah 45:5

Lora–You know, scripture memorization has been a struggle for me all my adult life–as a kid, through AWANA, I hid a lot of God’s Word in my heart. But now, the basics and discipline are lacking–thanks for the encouragement.
