Scripture Memory Team 2020 – Verse 1 – And Instructions

I am so tickled to be back to a Scripture Memory plan, and to have a team of you joining in! This is going to be so much fun to memorize the Word of God together!  I’ve done memory plans a few times before here on the blog; but this time, I am following my BFF Beth Moore’s instructions to a T. The six points that I’m going to share, in bold, as our guidelines  –  all come from Beth Moore’s instruction post from back in 2010 when she introduced the SSMT to us.  Why mess with a good thing? My words will follow Beth’s points.  I am going to share her points here in bold:

1. On the 1st and 15th of every month of 2020, you will find a post by 8:00 in the morning where I will ask for your memory verse and give you mine.

We are starting today, March 15, 2020 to memorize scripture together.  It is never too late to start memorizing the Word.  It will make such a positive difference in our lives to learn the Word and have it on repeat in our hearts and minds.

2. You are to enter the verse you’ve chosen to memorize for that two-week period within twenty-four hours of the post going up.  

Only to keep us committed to memorizing Scripture do I encourage this. I know how quickly the first can turn into the second, third, etc.  If you are late to post your verse, it is ok, please do so.

3. When you clock in with your verse those two times a month, keep your comments limited to your name, city, verse and translation.

You are know I love good conversation; but, for this post only, we are going to list the details of our verses.

4. As often as possible, choose a verse that means something to you in your present season or circumstance.

Since we are all going through different seasons, select a verse that encourages you in your present season. That way, we are all going to learn the verse that means the most to us and our circumstances.  Now if you don’t have a verse, by all means, I am glad to share mine, or maybe one in the comments will encourage you.

5. I strongly recommend that you stick with only one verse to memorize each time.

If we bite off too much, we may be encouraged to quit.  I want to finish the year well, so I am going to keep it simple.

6. Either shortly before or after making your entry each 1st and 15th in the blog comment, write the verse by hand in your own spiral.

This is such good advice from Mama Beth! Seeing my verse written out, helps me to memorize it! And you can add your spiral to your calendar, or bullet journal, “stack” when you leave the house.  There always seem to be extra minutes at appointments, visits, meetings, etc where you can glance at your spiral and repeat the verse you are learning.  Practice makes perfect.

I am choosing the verse that says “He has made everything beautiful in its time” because the Lord seems to have me on a treasure hunt for beauty.  We find what we look for, don’t we?  Even in sorrow, hard times, and disappointments,  I am looking for beauty everyday, every way.  Beauty can be found all around us,

Even when the circumstances may not be what we want, or understand,

Everything that occurs, is all part of an unseen plan.

I am on a search, and adventure,

Where no one can squelch or censure
