Trim Healthy Mama Marvelous Make-Ahead Meatballs Review

Trim Healthy Mama

6 Apr

Who else is a planner out there? Raise your virtual hand as I am raising mine.  I am a planner and I gladly admit being one.  Part of my weekly routine includes making a meal plan with daily menus and then having an evening of doing meal prep.  It really makes a difference, Mamas. Especially when you’ve had a long day, or when unscheduled items come up, to have a plan laid out for your meals for the week.  So, when I looked through my Trim Healthy Mama cookbook for recipes to add to my meal plan this last week, the planner in me was definitely interested in the title:  Marvelous Make-Ahead Meatballs.

First, here are the recipe details:

Cookbook: Trim Healthy Mama Trim Healthy Table Cookbook

Chapter:  Oven-Baked Meats & Fish
Page: 208 – 209
Recipe:  Marvelous Make-Ahead Meatballs
Serving: Makes 140 Meatballs (If you don’t have the freezer room for this many meatballs, halve or quarter the recipe)
Fuel: S – Satisfying, or FP – Fuel Pull
NSI: – No Special Ingredients – Use a grocery store unflavored gelatin instead of Just Gelatin and oats instead of the Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend
DF: Dairy Free – Omit the parmesan and use 2 to 3 additional tablespoons Nutritional Yeast

I wanted to share the details first because when I read that this recipe made 140 meatballs, I thought there is no way that I need to make that many meatballs.  Wrong, wrong, wrong.  Hindsight is always 20/20.  Sadly, I quartered the recipe thinking that 140 meatballs would be too many.  Let me just tell you 140 meatballs would not be too many.  If you make this recipe, and have the room for 140 meatballs, make the full recipe.

The Trim Healthy Mama Marvelous Make-Ahead Meatballs, are indeed marvelous!

You are going to want to make them and have them in your freezer for other delicious recipes in the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook.  I have already used the THM Make-Ahead Meatballs in the following THM recipes:
Meatballs, Rice, and Gravy recipe on page 211
Meatballs Casserole recipe on page 128
This recipe has just five easy steps to marvelous meatballs.  You know Trim Healthy Mama is all about being healthy and this recipe has a secret ingredient at the heart of it and I never disclosed what veggie it was to The Salesman as he filled his plate and talked about how good they were. If you look closely at the meatballs pictured, you may be able to see evidence of a secret vegetable.

I followed the recipe exactly, and as far as choices given in the recipe, I selected:
Just Gelatin verses a grocery store unflavored gelatin
Garlic gloves verses garlic powder
Old-fashioned rolled oats verses THM Baking Blend
Sage verses Italian seasoning since I was going to make a savory dish first, and then an Italian dish later
96% lean grass-fed beef for a Fuel Pull verses Beef, venison or lean turkey
Water with a splash of soy sauce verses chicken or beef broth for simmering the meatballs
THM High Mineral Salt

Scrump-dilly-icious! Everyone at the table will be saying they are Scrump-dilly-icious!  Even your picky eaters.

I highly recommend this recipe and you will be so glad you made them!
Two thumbs up from me, and The Salesman!
Enjoy!
