I am having the most fun continuing my treasure hunt for beauty right here at home. As of today, The Salesman and I have been home together for 42 days! The Salesman says he was social distancing before it was a thing. And, he also says that he thinks he will continue with it long after it is not a thing, well because, it is just him – the way he is wired and made. Well, not all of us are wired that way – Me! Just so you know, if you don’t already, we work at home every single day. Yes, before stay-at-home orders, we stayed at home to work; but, my favorite part of working at home has always been the going out! Yes, opposites attract and I so enjoy people and social outings and activities.
This summer, we will have been married for 32 years, and we dated for 4 years before we married. Would someone please do the math and tell me how I can only be 29?!? I am just joking. I have known Gary for 36 years total. We have had laughter and joy, two beautiful daughters, we have survived heartache and sorrows, and years of lean and years of great harvest, we have been best friends and yet held the ability to grate on the others nerves more than anyone.
One thing remains: Jesus and His daily grace to us. .
Anyone who knows me knows that I love taking pictures. In fact, when I return from a social outing he will joke and say:
If there isn’t a picture, did it really happen?
And I’ve come to expect that funny comment from him. We are so cute. He knows I love to take pictures of people, as well as have pictures taken with my friends and family. This is one area where we are opposite. I have shared how the last time the entire Osburn gathered for a family picture, he was not so jovial about being a part of it. So not jovial in fact, that there was only ONE picture where he had a hint of a smile on his face and the photographer had to take that one almost smile and transpose his head onto his body in another picture that everyone else in the family selected. I can’t look at that picture at his parents house without thinking that his head looks cut and pasted. Because, it is.
So, when a few weeks ago he discovered a flyer from a neighbor advertising her Porch Pictures, he was impressed that she was being an entrepreneur and said:
We should have her take our picture.
Yes, he was the one that instigated this picture taking session. And today, I am sharing a few favorites from our Porch Picture session that he obviously enjoyed. He not only smiled; but he laughed and made me laugh! My favorites are the non-posed pictures, and Sarah captured some really precious expressions.
I think he enjoyed almost everything about the Porch Pictures. Except when he had to wear his dress shirt for almost an hour while we waited for the sun to go down enough to get really good natural lighting on the back porch and then message Sarah to come back so we could actually do some Porch Pictures on the porch for the Porch Pictures Session! I thought we were going to lose the whole dressed up Gary and maybe have him in his paint shorts and his favorite comfortable AE long sleeved, color blocked shirt with his blue flip flops. It would’ve totally messed up our color co-ordination and dressy business casual vibe.
Look closely – we now we have some pictures together with him smiling and it is his own smiling head attached to his body. And I can say no scissors and glue had to be used in these authentic pictures.
There is so much beauty all around us. Happy 42 days!

I so enjoyed your article Lora! I laughed through most of it; I could actually “hear” Gary’s comments. And those priceless smiling pictures – my goodness – how beautiful!! Love them..
