Almost every day this season I have been picking up the baseball sized fruit that falls from the numerous black walnut trees. And just so you know, since the walnuts do not taste good, I pick them up to get rid of them. So instead of looking at this task as a pain, I am presenting them as my bouquet, or in this case, my basket. Last week, I placed the fruit of my labor up on the fence and took a picture of them right before I pitched them. The daily time of picking up the walnuts has developed into a beautiful still life. I am continuing my treasure hunt for beauty and believe it can be found almost anywhere. I am thankful for the stately trees that give me shade and that I am able to bend to pick up the walnuts.
Look up, my friends, there is beauty all around us.
