A young friend handed me this gift of lemongrass and eucalyptus soap on Sunday evening. It wasn’t a special occasion and though the day seemed like any other, it was during a week that brought up challenging memories…
Anyone else come to the anniversary of a day and find that it brings with it a fresh wave of sorrow, or hurt, or disappointment?
Hello this week.
This lemongrass soap became a visual reminder of hope that even when life seems to give you lemons, the Lord can send people, and things, like the eucalyptus swirls in it to bring beauty, and hope, to our days.
Sometimes gifts can be put on the shelf for a special occasion; but, in the spirit of the daily and routine that it was given, I’m breaking it out of the brown paper and lathering up and holding on to hope.
You never know what one simple act of kindness can do for a heart that needs hope.
Every day is a gift, even the days that hold challenging memories. I want to find the beautiful eucalyptus swirls in the lemons of everyday life. I want to unwrap, and even find joy and gratitude, every day.
I am thankful for the gift and the giver of the gift.
The soap reminds me in the daily to:
Wash away sadness and sorrow
Give thanks that God is with us in every tomorrow
Bringing people and good things
That cause my heart to sing
And reminding me with soap
To hang on to Hope.
He sends gifts in brown paper packages
That are tied with no strings
Oh the joy He brings
Through people sharing *things*
The gift of soap
Becomes a gift of hope.
I will look for good, and for beauty,
It is my duty.
