As a little girl, I remember peering out the screen door and seeing my maternal grandpa out by the big tree in the side yard, talking to someone; but, no one was out there with him. I didn’t seen anyone else around him. After he headed on out to the cows, I went through that screen door and looked to see if maybe someone was leaned up against the house or in the barn; but, sure enough, no one was there. So, I went back in and asked my grandma who grandpa was talking to, she told me he was talking to the Lord. He believed The Lord was there with him, and he talked to The Lord like He was there. The conversations I observed through my child-like eyes of wonder, looked as natural as two people conversing, except that, I could only see my grandpa.
My paternal grandmother was a kind and quiet woman. When we visited her, we went with her to a little country church where she and her family were members. Every Sunday the Sunday School leader would ask each person how many chapters they had read in their weekly Bible reading. My grandma, an extremely humble woman, always softly spoke out a number that was more Scripture than anyone at that little church had read. She loved the Word of God, and it showed, not only on Sunday mornings; but, every day of the week.
I have a godly heritage. I like to believe that I am experiencing a convergence of the godly family that has gone on before me in that I see and hear The Lord in my everyday life. In the simple routines of the daily activities, I see HIM all around me. If I am quiet enough, I hear HIM speak. I am carrying on the tradition of my forefathers, and mothers, and speaking, reading, and writing.
I love to share what I’ve been given. I’ve so been blessed to lead Bible studies, teach school and share with many groups of all ages. Seeing and hearing the Lord in the routines of everyday is natural to me, and I love to share what He is saying to me.
