Scripture Memory Team 2026 – Verse 7

Scripture Memory Team

1 Jul
Happy July, friends! And, Happy Scripture Memory Team day! 💙
Miriam Webster defines impossible as:
“Incapable of Occurrence: Physically, logically, or mathematically unable to happen or be performed.”
I told this amazing story to a friend this last week and had no idea that the Lord was reviving it from my memories to go along with this month’s memory verse. It’s a longer read than normal; but it’s so good. It’s so GOD.
When our children were little, we used the envelope system for teaching financial responsibility. They had four envelopes: tithe, short-term savings, long-term savings, and spending. Each week they would divide their money into the four categories and put them in the corresponding envelope. Since it was right before the holiday season began, the envelopes were getting thick with one dollar bills. Our youngest had saved up her money and was excited about going Christmas shopping to buy presents.
The Salesman was in the habit of taking them on father-daughter dates while they were in grade school. This particular evening, they were going to see a movie. I don’t remember what the movie was; but I do remember communicating to not take their money envelopes with them.
Oh, they were so excited to be going on their date. They climbed into his big truck and rolled off toward town.
They were as excited when they returned home to tell me all about the movie and their time together. I can still see Victoria’s countenance change as she realized she did not have her purse and had left it in the theater. I told her I would call and see if they could find it and asked her what she had in it to identify that it was hers…
She had her envelope of money for Christmas shopping in it…
In my mind, I thought:
“Goodbye spending money.”
I did not say it out loud; but it’s certainly what I thought.
I dialed the theater – it was back in the day where somebody still answered the phone instead of getting a recording. He said his name was Michael and I told him about the purse that had been left and about the envelope of cash inside. He offered to go look.
I stood in our little country kitchen at the bar and said child sat so still on a swivel barstool as we waited for him to return to the line. I thought it was truly impossible for my child’s envelope with her Christmas cash to still be in her pint-sized purse.
When he finally returned to the phone, he told me that he had found her purse just as I had described. Then I paused and asked, “Is her envelope with her cash still inside?”
“Yes ma’am. I counted it and it’s all there.”
Glory.
“Thank you Michael. My husband will be heading up there to pick it up. I’ll have him ask for you.”
What seemed impossible – the Lord made possible. Praise His Name.
But, the story did not end here.
We were in town the following Wednesday for co-op and piano and violin lessons and I told the girls we should go in to the theater and thank Michael for finding and keeping and returning the purse and money.
This is where the Lord proved to us that anything is possible with God.
We walked into the theater and I asked the manager if we could please speak with the employee named Michael.
“Ma’am, we don’t have anyone that works here by that name.”
I then asked if someone named Michael worked there recently and is no longer an employee?
“No ma’am.”
Nothing, oh nothing, is too difficult for the Lord God.
Feel free to screenshot the July verse and memorize with me! 💜
